We established an Alcatel trading unit in Thailand in 1939. And in 1967, we were the first foreign company to open a telecommunications equipment factory in Thailand. Today we employ 180 people. Almost 10 percent are non-Thai, including French, Indian, Bangladeshi and Australian natives. All have strong technical competence, as well as sales and operational experience to support our business in Thailand.

To expand our lead in the Thai market, we increased the number of our channel partners to 12 in 2013. Thailand is also the home of one of our major integration labs. The lab develops innovative solutions for customers in Thailand and neighboring countries.

Among our customers, we have strong working relationships with TOT Public Co., Ltd., CAT Telecom Public Co. Ltd., True Corporation Public Co Ltd., TrueMove and Shinawatra Satellite. We also have extensive experience in enterprise systems and telecom infrastructure projects for Thailand’s major banks, hospitals and education facilities.

We continue to play a key role in developing Thailand’s telecommunications industry, and have locally deployed projects centered on:

  • IP/MPLS equipment for transport networks
  • Optical and radio transmission systems
  • Broadband infrastructure
  • Intelligent Network (IN) platform for prepaid billing systems
  • GSM/2G/3G networks and Femto cell across 100 percent of mobile operators
  • IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) technology platforms and OSS

In 2013, we established new business with DTAC, winning in Optical DWDM (a breakthrough in the Telenor group) as well as Femto and Veloxic. In addition, we won a DWDM project with Symphony, a leased-line carrier, which is continuing to diversify its customer portfolio.

Alcatel-Lucent Thailand has also underscored its commitment to social responsibility through many donations and activities. In line with our corporate mission, some of these activities have included: a self-directed learning and digital inclusion program, the building of libraries and schools and donations of IT equipment to remote schools.

In 2014, we are funding a million-baht Thai Cyber Kids Project for students in Ayutthaya province that will be managed by the Education for Development Foundation.
