Winners implemented solutions that enable knowledge
sharing, enhanced customer service and increased efficiency
Paris, March 4, 2009 — Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and
NYSE: ALU) today announced the winners of its first annual Dynamic
Enterprise Awards: Abilene Christian University; Fluor Corporation; the
Saudi Ministry of Culture & Information; and Siam Commercial Bank.
Communications projects deployed or managed by each of the winning
enterprises demonstrate how fully leveraging the interconnection of networks,
people, process and knowledge using IP technology provides unique competitive
advantages. The winning organizations were chosen by a team of Alcatel-Lucent
executives based on four key criteria; cost savings produced, impact of the
networks on the organization’s ability to make money or deliver better customer
service, improvement in data security, and overall innovation and communication
abilities.
Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise President Tom Burns announced these winning
organizations today in his keynote address at the nineteenth annual
Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Forum before an audience of several hundred
international journalists, industry analysts, and Alcatel-Lucent customers and
business partners.
“Alcatel-Lucent developed the Dynamic Enterprise Awards as a way to
recognize organizations that have successfully connected people with advanced
technologies to maintain a competitive edge and deliver exceptional customer
service,” said Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise President, Tom Burns. “The winning
organizations vary dramatically in the services they deliver and people they
serve, but all of them share the common act of building world-class networks
that have made a dramatic impact.”
In addition to being a Dynamic Enterprise Award winner, industry analysts
attending this year’s Enterprise Forum selected Abilene Christian University as
the winner of the first Analyst Choice Award.
Dynamic Enterprise Award Winning Organizations
Abilene Christian University (ACU) – using iPhones for
Learning
As part of a program using innovative technology to enhance learning, Abilene
Christian is the first university in the United States to provide each incoming
student with an Apple iPhone or iPod touch. The Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX
Enterprise Communications Server, OmniTouch Contact Center solution,
Alcatel-Lucent LAN switches and wireless LAN solution support an environment
that gives students unique services customized for these devices and access to
information wherever and whenever they need it. Students can access course
calendars, campus maps, receive homework alerts, security alerts, and answer
in-class surveys and quizzes, among other ACU developed web applications.
Siam Commercial Bank – making corporate experts available to
customers
In an effort to enhance customer service and improve customer satisfaction,
Thailand’s Siam Commercial Bank utilized Alcatel-Lucent to update its network.
The Alcatel-Lucent solution included OmniGenesys IP Call Center, CC Teamer
contact center collaboration tool, and a voice and data network to provide the
infrastructure needed to interconnect its service-minded call center agents
with other experts in the company. Now, contact center agents can tap the
knowledge from experts to provide fast and thorough transactions for
customers.
Fluor Limited – safer commutes as part of UK’s National Roads
Telecommunications Service
As part of a communications system overhaul for the UK National Highways
Agency, Fluor Limited selected Alcatel-Lucent for the deployment of a new
IP/WDM network on the English motorway system, combined with a comprehensive
operating support system (OSS). The system provides travelers a safer, more
reliable journey by enabling accurate, real-time information provided in part
by a nationwide surveillance system and then reported over various types of
media including television, radio and web.
Saudi Ministry of Culture & Information – sharing knowledge, reducing
costs and going green
The ministry chose an Alcatel-Lucent voice and data network for its
comprehensive IP overhaul and was able to cut its power consumption and its
operating expenses. The network serves 5,000 users in six locations and added
unified communications capabilities that have enabled employees to better share
knowledge and leverage the entire human resources of the ministry to accomplish
their objectives. The power savings resulting from the network total more than
4,000 megawatt hours – enough power for several thousand homes - over the
course of five years.
